Bayrampaşa

Bayrampaşa, on İstanbul's European side, covers only 9.54 km², making it one of the city's smallest districts; it is named after Grand Vizier Bayram Paşa and took its current name after a cholera outbreak in 1971. Ottoman-era water structures attributed to the architect Mimar Sinan and the 1752 Köse Bahir Mustafa Paşa Fountain are among its historic traces; the Greater İstanbul Bus Terminal and the Bayrampaşa wholesale fruit and vegetable market are its main transport and trade hubs.
