Salıpazarı, inland in Samsun province, has no coastline and is surrounded by the districts of Terme, Çarşamba, Ayvacık, Erbaa and Akkuş. It takes its name from the market held every Tuesday ('salı'); old fortifications such as Garpu Kale and Eğri Kale, and hazelnut, rice and corn farming, are the district's highlights.
