Doğanhisar is a district 122 km north-west of Konya, on the north-eastern slopes of the Sultan Mountains. The district's fine clay deposits have supported pottery and ceramic craftsmanship for thousands of years, and the illite mined here is sold to ceramic factories in Bilecik.
