Andırın is known as the greenest and most forested district of Kahramanmaraş; Boncuk Hill at 2,249 m and numerous plateaus crossed by the Karasu River lie within it. It was under the Dulkadirid principality before joining Ottoman territory in 1515. The district was affected by the 2023 earthquakes and some buildings may be under repair.
