Karabağlar

Karabağlar is İzmir's second most populous district and one of the city's older settled areas; its name comes from the black-grape vineyards that once covered neighbourhoods such as Emrez and Aktepe some two hundred years ago. It became a separate district in 2008, splitting from Konak. İzmir Demokrasi University is located here.
