Yenice is Çanakkale's easternmost district, bordered by Balıkesir to the east and south, Biga and Çan to the north, and Bayramiç to the west. Founded by Kınık Turks in the 19th century, its district centre was relocated after the 1953 earthquake. Mount Güre to the north and Mount Asar to the southwest both rise to about 960 metres.
