Bahçesaray

Bahçesaray is Van's most mountainous district, ringed by steep high mountains, and its old name was Müküs. It was conquered by the Seljuk Sultan Melikşah in 1064 and became a district in its own right in 1987, splitting off from Gevaş. Walnut and honey production are among the district's main sources of income.
