Tokat Museum (Arastalı Bedesten)

The Tokat Museum began museum activities in 1926 in the Gökmedrese, an Anatolian Seljuk-era medical madrasa, and moved in 2012 to the Arastalı Bedesten, an Ottoman building on the historic Sulusokak in the city centre, as its collection grew and the earlier building needed restoration. The bedesten's builder and exact date are unknown, but it is thought to date from the 15th-16th century; its cut-stone facade is articulated with brick courses, and the interior is covered by nine domes.
