Kapaklı, in the northeast of Tekirdağ province, lies just 3 kilometres from Çerkezköy. Originally called Kapaklıpınar, the settlement was founded during the reign of Abdülhamid II, and its 1904 mosque still stands; an organized industrial zone developed from 1973 onward forms the basis of the district's economy, and Kapaklı became a district in 2012.
