Hasköy, on the Muş Plain between the Otluk and Karaçavuş mountain ranges, has Muş's centre to its west and north-west, Korkut to its north-east, and Bitlis Province to its east and south. Its history goes back to the Byzantine period; after the 1071 Battle of Manzikert, Arab populations settled the area via Sason and Mutki, and the Armenian name 'Derhas' (Has Church) was Turkified to Hasköy after the founding of the Republic.
