Also known as Lake Bulanık, Lake Haçlı lies south of the Bulanık district and takes its name from the village of Haçlı to its south. It is a barrier lake, formed when lava from the Kızkopan volcano to its north blocked its outflow. It sits at about 1,580 metres above sea level and is no more than 7 metres deep. The lake freezes in winter, and its surroundings are a protected natural site.
