Labraunda Ancient City
A mountain sanctuary that was the centre of the Carian cult of Zeus Labraundos.

Labraunda was an important cult centre for the Carians of south-west Anatolia; its earliest temple dates to the 6th century BC. In the mid-4th century BC the Carian satrap Mausolus and his brother Idrieus expanded the sanctuary with a Temple of Zeus, two large dining halls (andrones), a north stoa and a monumental gateway. An 8-metre-wide paved Sacred Way led to the sanctuary from Mylasa (Milas).
