Gülek Castle stands in Gülek, about 60-65 km north of Tarsus, at a strategically important point with foundations dating back to the Medieval period. It is entered through a gate on the south side; its north and northeast sides sit on sheer cliffs and were left unfortified, while the south and west walls are reinforced with round and square towers.
