On the Mediterranean shore in Anamur district, Mamure Castle was built on antique foundations and survives today in remarkably good condition. Set on high rocks and flat ground, it has three sections - an inner courtyard to the east, an outer castle to the west, and an inner keep on the rocks to the south - and counts 39 towers.
