In Emre village, part of Kula district, a fountain, the remains of two baths and the foundation of a madrasa survive alongside a shrine dated to the Islamic year 954. Known as the Tomb of Tapduk Emre, the structure resembles the Saruhan Bey Tomb in Manisa in its architectural elements. Inside are ten graves, said to belong to Tapduk Emre in the centre and family members around him; the grave just outside the door, with an axe carved on its stone, is said to be that of the poet Yunus Emre.
