Ravanda Castle stands on a high conical hill east of the Afrin river, within the lands of Belenözü (Ravanda) village in the Polateli district, about 24 km north-west of Kilis. Commanding the route between Urfa and Antioch, it changed hands between the Seljuks, the Crusaders, the Ayyubids, the Mamluks and the Ottomans, and it was repaired and strengthened under Saladin. The walls, towers and two large cisterns of the inner castle can be seen. Recent work has added steps, footpaths and information panels.
