Çüngüş is a mountainous district in the north-west of Diyarbakır, on the Euphrates and the Karakaya Dam reservoir. The stone Çüngüş Bridge, dating from the 17th century, and two ruined 16th-century churches stand in the district, which has the smallest population in Diyarbakır province.
