Founded in the Hellenistic period under the name Apollonia, Tripolis stands where the regions of Phrygia, Caria and Lydia meet. Most of what survives today, its stadium, theatre, baths and colonnaded streets, was built between the 1st and 3rd centuries AD. Excavations have been carried out by Ege University since 2007.
