Bayramören lies in north-western Çankırı, 105 km from the provincial centre. Formerly a subdistrict of Kurşunlu, it became a municipality in 1972 and a district in 1991; its town centre is among Turkey's smallest district centres by population. It hosts paragliding competitions every year, and the 2015 World Paragliding Championship was held here.
