Lake Burdur is one of Türkiye's seven largest lakes and is twice as salty as seawater, so it holds no fish. Home in winter to around 100 bird species, including much of the world's population of the endangered white-headed duck, it was declared a Ramsar Wetland in 1994. The lake has been shrinking in recent years due to water loss.
