Historic Houses of Bartın

Bartın's houses exemplify Ottoman-era vernacular architecture; showing Art Nouveau and Baroque influences, they are generally two storeys and stand within gardens enclosed by wooden fences known as "daraba". Their ground floors are stone and upper floors timber-frame, and the entrance area, called the "gulluk", along with the garden paths, is paved with slate.
