Dursunbey, in the east of Balıkesir province, is its largest district by area and borders Bursa and Kütahya provinces. Known in the Roman period as Hadriania, it has the forested Alaçam Mountains (1,683 m) and the Suçıktı recreation area; Dursunbey pine timber and marble (travertine) are well known.
